This is just a page for testing the animated route videos

I'm using this page to trial a couple of thing and do some planning at the same time.

The first and main thing is route planning. I never set out to make a rigid plan, but you do need to start somewhere. In my case I hope to cross the channel and explore some of the D-Day landing sites and museums. I'll use the DFDS Newhaven ferry because it's fairly cheap compared to other and it's ideal for Normany. 

The next step is to identify all the places you want to visit and then parking, aires or campsites nearby. I'll be using non toll roads where possible, not so much to reduce cost, I find it a much better way to actually see the area rather than long boring (but fast) roads.

The second thing I wanted to do here was trial my new animated route maps, there's an example here I put together. I hope it will be useful for people to see my route and it's my way of remembering where I have been.

If you look below you can see how I start to add places to a map. At the end the route heads South to Oradour-sur-Glane. After that who knows!

Planning

The initial part of this next trip will be to explore the landmarks, museums and special sites that are connected to the D-Day landings on the Normandy coast. It will begin from Newhaven leaving on the ferry to Dieppe. First stop overnight will be Honfleur and then on to the first aire.
